The season is shifting from humid and sunny to crisp and cloudy, so naturally we went on the hunt for the most exciting fall flavors, and surprisingly found them at Playa Bowls on the Beltline. Plays Bowls would likely not come to mind when enjoying a fall treat, but they have actually been coming out with a lot of different menu items to encapsulate the fall feel. We tried one of their new fall bowls and a pumpkin-spiced coffee as well, hoping to satisfy our craving for autumnal
The Apple Turn Up Acai Bowl was a perfect blend of summertime sensation and autumn awe. The banana, apple, peanuts, cinnamon, apple butter, and blueberry flax granola topped their classic acai base. While we were originally doubtful of a fall themed acai bowl because they are typically very summery, we were surprised to find all of these flavors compliment each other nicely. The bananas and apples provided a good blend of textures, and the apple butter and cinnamon topping gently brought out their flavor. The granola was the most important part of this bowl, as it tied everything together with a crunch. For anyone craving a summer and fall snack, this is the bowl for you.
The Pumpkin Sweet Cream Cold Brew was a perfectly okay coffee. The fall flavor is very strong, but does not taste much different from a Starbucks fall drink. Oat milk was the default option, and gave this drink a slightly different taste than a normal coffee. There was a lot of ice, but it was somehow still very sweet tasting. While it would pair better with something other than an acai bowl, this drink is perfect for a sweet pumpkin loving coffee person. b
