A new burger restaurant in the heart of downtown has sprung up in March. The Kitchen at True North Provisions is brand new and here to stay. Photo editor Andrew Pickel ’27 and staff writer Max Vance ’29 enjoyed a delicious meal and can’t wait to spread the word.
Located directly across from the Courtland Grand Hotel and near the World of Coke, The Kitchen stands out in the sea of restaurants. With an inviting bar-like feel, the restaurant welcomes people in and instantly captivates their attention. Covered from head to toe in murals and artwork, The Kitchen has an interior that is unlike any other.
While we were unable to try everything on the menu, we ordered a wide range of food to get a sample of what The Kitchen has to offer. We ordered barbecue tater tots, chicken and steak tacos, and their famous burgers, the Line Cook and the Kitchen Sink. The service was welcoming and fast, with a down-to-earth attitude from our waiter. With fast service, we dug into our food and quickly confirmed our hopeful beliefs. The burgers were cooked to perfection, and the tacos had a perfect mix of lime and carne asada flavor.
With such great food and an inviting atmosphere, we were surprised to see the lack of people inside. This may be due to it being mid-afternoon when we visited, and it seems to be mainly focused on being a bar. We think they could potentially benefit from having more promotion for their restaurant, because even with how it stands out, it can be hard to find in the chaotic downtown area.
