“[Volleyball is] weird,” says Varsity Volleyball Assistant Coach Stacy Winston. “You’ve got six people doing six different things in nine by nine meters.” That’s why the Paideia Pythons are entering the new season with many goals, but their main goal is to work together on the court.
“We are … trying to play more collectively as a team instead of individually,” Varsity player Isabel Samai ’29 reiterates. “We’re wanting to maintain a mentality where we always want the ball and are willing to do our best.”
Winston says that the Pythons have plenty of talent this year, and after working towards these goals, she’s confident that they will have a successful season.
Off the court, “They’re fun and they’re having fun with each other,” Winston shares. While the Paideia volleyball team might be working on collaboration on the court this season, they already have a strong community off of it.
“I always feel like someone has my back in this program, and that has made me more confident as a person,” Samai adds. As of Sept. 17, the Varsity team has a record of 8-10 and an in-region record of 7-1. The Python’s next game is away against The Galloway School on Sept. 24.
