Jesus’ absence will leave a lasting void in our newspaper and our hearts. Now that he’s gone, we sit at our computers and solemnly think, WWJD: What would Jesus do?
Jesus always kept us on our toes. In the process of nearly every issue, he had us praying that he’d finish his article on time.
But alas, like a resurrection from the dead, he always prevailed with a one-of-a-kind article at the last minute. One might ask him why he was always the last to finish his articles, but reassurance is Jesus’ middle name. He’d amicably rest a hand on your shoulder, lift his finger to his mouth in a shushing motion, and remind us, lest we forget, that he is cooking. So we’d respond, “Yes, Chef. Thank you, Chef,” despite the doubt in our hearts.
Jesus went the extra mile some days by staying in the room far past 12:40. I know he was hard at work, vigorously copy-editing pages, dominating layout, but some say he was actually watching the Westminster Kennel Club dog racing tournaments? Either way, Jesus was a team player.
I can’t end this obituary without mentioning Jesus’ incredible video editing skills. All Forum videos from this year were magnificently filmed and edited by our one and only. In a room full of words, Jesus brought the visuals and media to life. While he may be gone, his legacy will live forever on our Instagram, @piforum.
