After last season’s historic performance in the playoffs, Paideia boys basketball is back. Paideia is always looking to win it, and the team’s confidence is higher than ever after last year’s momentous final. The team appears positioned to outperform last season and claim the whole tournament.
Last season, Paideia fielded a young team, consisting of primarily sophomores and juniors. While the squad still remains youthful, they now bring an extra season of experience to their skill set that could drive them to greater heights. That core group of players, captained by CJ Harper ’26, Tristan Mitchell ’27, and Reggie Moorman ’25, has improved and built chemistry together over the past years, and they hope their progress has set them up to win a state championship.
Paideia kicked off the year with a 1-2 record. Despite the close losses against Decatur and Mays, Paideia showed promise in their game against Berkmar, and seemed set to rebound and win the upcoming games. “Competition is still very competitive, and we don’t look down on anyone,” Mitchell said. “We come out with the same energy regardless of who we’re playing. Some teams stacked up with more players but we stick to our game plan every time and we’ll come out on top.”
With every game Paideia hopes to improve more, and as Mitchell said, “Don’t expect anything less!”
