On Friday, Feb. 21, the Boys Varsity Soccer Team played their longtime rival Midtown High School. While the game was filled with ups and downs and controversial calls by the referee, the team took their second defeat of the season. Their current record after five games is 2-3-1, managing to grab two wins thus far.
The team had a game on Feb. 25 against Fellowship Christian, in which they tied 0-0 after two scoreless 35-minute halves. Two-ten minute extra time halves followed with the same score continuing through them which led to penalty kicks that ended in a 4-2 defeat to the Pythons.
As the Pythons move deeper into their season, one of their main concerns is finishing and scoring goals. In the last two games since playing Lakeside, they have not scored at all and have been forced to go to penalty kicks. However, they were able to put a handful of goals away against Maynard Jackson on Mar. 4.
The team still has multiple games until the end of the season and they look forward to changing the trajectory of the season to cement their spot in the playoffs and potentially try for another state championship.
