As this new school year began, students and faculty were met with the obstacle of construction throughout campus. Construction projects on campus have been underway for a while now, something that Paideia was not used to before the past year.
Head of School Tom Taylor discussed the current construction projects, saying, “There are four construction projects going on on campus… most of which are actually almost done. The first is the new Junior High building, the second are renovations to Oakdale Hall, the third is high school science, and then the last is High School House, which is the one that is still substantially ongoing.”
While these projects will result in improvements to the school, they are also creating obstacles on campus, as certain spaces such as the High School House are off limits. The High School House is still not in use, and will remain that way for a while. When asked about how construction is affecting school, Taylor responded, “The most immediate disruptions to the operations of school is that it took a ton of our maintenance team’s time over the summer. Those are the priorities over the summer, which other common maintenance work over the summer might have been delayed or put on hold for a year. A lot of teachers didn’t have time to settle into their new rooms.”
It looks like these projects will be completed soon, and more spaces throughout the school will become available. For now, the maintenance and construction teams remain hard at work on campus to finish the renovations.
