In second grade, when the amazing, spectacular and astonishing “Frozen 2” came out, it was the biggest disappointment I’ve ever experienced. Though I’m lucky that the worst thing for me was “Frozen 2,” it has ruined my perspective on movies completely.
Soon after, I realized the repetitive Friday night Disney movies with my family were getting old. The same “pretty” princesses popping up on my screen were just plain and boring. On top of that, they encouraged unachievable beauty and living standards.
Think about all the movies that have been monopolized into one big overhyped mess: “Moana,” “The Lion King,” “Aladdin,” “Home Alone” and so many more have been ruined because of the movie industry. Movie companies have used nostalgia to hype up sequels just as a way to earn money. On top of that, the third and fourth “Frozen” movies are confirmed to be in the making; they really need to “let it go.”
Additionally, spending three plus
hours in one sitting watching pointless movies can lead to greater effects like insomnia, depression and anxiety, according to Northwestern Medicine. In the United States, “people watch an average of 21 hours of streamed digital media each week, and 99 percent of all households subscribe to at least one streaming service.” What’s the point of watching movies and spending extra money when the beautiful short videos on Tiktok exist?
