This year’s Men’s NCAA tournament was a unique mix of underdog teams making their presence known in early rounds and top teams showing their dominance with long-awaited star-studded matchups.
This year’s March Madness was notable for many reasons, but the one thing that surprised experts and delighted amateur bracket-makers was the fact that the final four teams were all ranked as the number one seed in their respective regions. While the teams that made the final four were obviously favorites to go far, this unique event has only happened once in the tournament’s 85-year history. While the Duke Blue Devils, the national favorite to win the tournament, did not make the championship game, their freshman superstar Cooper Flagg did not let fans down and had an impressive run until getting knocked out in the semifinals by the Houston Cougars, a team that had an impressive run throughout the tournament.
However, the Cougars eventually met their match, playing against the Florida Gators led by Junior guard Walter Clayton Jr. , and the Gators managed to overcome a 12-point deficit to take home the trophy for the third time in their program’s history.
While the tournament has had a historically low number of upsets, this year’sMarch Madness was still able to captivate audiences nationwide with national powerhouses going head to head on the largest stage in college basketball.
