The NFL’s regular season is nearing its end, and the fight for the 14 spots in the playoffs is in full force. Teams are battling for divisions and Wild Card entry, so the last few weeks are crucial with regard to the postseason.
In the American Football Conference, the battle for the top seed and that critical first-round bye in the AFC is fierce. As of now, the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots pace the conference with a great record. The Indianapolis Colts are right behind them, keeping the heat on the division leaders for the top spot.
In the divisions, the Pittsburgh Steelers are leading the AFC North. The Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars hold the current Wild Card positions. Several other teams, like the Chiefs, are desperately fighting to make that late-season jump into the playoff picture.
The competition is equally thrilling in the National Football Conference, as both the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams hold amazing records while leading in their division. The Chicago Bears stand atop the NFC North, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hold the top spot in the NFC South. The current Wild Card spots are held by the Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers. An amazing postseason is in the making, and given last year’s viewership revenue, this year won’t disappoint.
With just seven weeks remaining, each team has bracket positioning on its mind. A division victory means a first-round home game is clinched. More valuable yet: the number one seed in each conference earns a week off and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. High stakes, unexpected upsets and thrilling football are expected in the final stretch as teams try to earn a chance at the Super Bowl trophy.
